Forever 21 top, Bayo trousers, bazaar necklace and Zalora shoes
Such an inappropriate photo for a very formal blog post. Yeah, yeah, I know. Catchy, right? I am inspired to write this post because these photos were taken after our company meeting last week. I also got awarded which explains my blog absence because I have been quite busy with work. (If only that is an effective cliché.)
Work can be really draining and sometimes, I feel like giving up. I dreamt of just laying in Maldives sand while sipping my buko juice listening loud to Drake's music on full volume. But, in reality, the bills just keep piling and your Instagram feed is full of online shopping. So, you better get your ass off to work or else, you just end up feeling like crap. Work, motivates me and kills me all at the same time but I will be giving you some tips on how to survive it while giving out what is expected of you(while giving you a taste of my conceitedness, HAHA!).
1. BE ENGAGED
Be attentive and committed to your company's goals. As you begin your daily routine, ask yourself why you are doing this and why you need to do this. Most of the time, we feel like we don't understand the work we do because we don't know what we are doing. To be engaged, involve yourself in meetings, team huddles, small talks with peers and company events. Give suggestions, raise questions, provide help and look for solutions. The more you are engaged, the more you will get to understand your work.
2. KNOW YOUR LIMITS
Sometimes, we don't know where to stop because the work doesn't seem to end. If you feel like you are about to choke, SAY SOMETHING. Keeping your emotions to yourself, will not get you anywhere. We are not blessed with superpowers but we are allowed to express and communicate. If something is not working, tell your manager and provide options that will benefit you and your work. Focus on what you can do and what you can control. By knowing your limit, you will be able to function well and do your job clearly.
3. STAY AWAY FROM NEGATIVITY
I don't know about you but I am the type of person who hates negativity. If there is too much going on at work, why do you need to add yourself with more, right? You need light and positivity to get you going so don't mingle yourself with people who talks nothing but shit because that'll only make you feel more demotiviated. I had my own share of rants and disappointments, every job is not perfect but I make sure to find something fun at work to make you feel more energized. Go on group lunches(not to gossip, OK?), talk random stuff about that funny video you saw in Facebook and just laugh it all out. Good will always outweigh the bad, ALL THE TIME.
4. RESPECT YOUR BODY
I am guilty of this because I hate taking absences but recently, I have been really sick and my eyes have been dry as F. Sometimes, you need to step back and listen to your body. Our body is our only asset and it's the only thing that'll keep us going. If you need a time off, go and take a rest. Go on leave, have fun and recharge. Your work will never stop and it will never end but your health is much VALUABLE. No job is better if you are getting sicker. It is not worth it.
5. HAVE FUN
With all the pressure and stress you have to deal with, it is imporant to find joy in everything we do. Whether talking with our favorite seatmate, munching on your favorite snack while doing your daily activities and even taking a sneak peek on your Instagram during your break period. Having fun doesn't necessarily have to be at work. It goes way beyond that. During my weekend, I make sure to have fun even if that means laying at bed and catching up on The Walking Dead Series. That to me, is just happiness. Enjoy and live a little because dedicating your whole life to your job is just plain bullshit. There is more to life. So, have fun! :)
